President William Ruto is today expected in Bondo, Siaya County, to lead the official handover and commissioning of the Raila Amolo Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi.
The restricted ceremony will include the formal state handover, dedication and commissioning of the mausoleum, which has been constructed in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The event comes as Kenya marks one year since Raila’s death, with October designated “Mwezi wa Baba” to commemorate his life and legacy.
Siaya Governor James Orengo said he held a final walkthrough of the site on Tuesday evening after meeting Raila’s widow, Dr Ida Odinga, at Opoda Farm.
Members of the public will be allowed access to the mausoleum from October 8, while a memorial service is scheduled for October 15.
Orengo has invited Kenyans to Siaya as the county hosts the commemorative activities.
