Detectives in Moyale, Marsabit County, have arrested two suspects and recovered a Toyota Prado believed to have been fraudulently acquired following an intelligence-led operation in Moyale town.

The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Mohamed Amin and 22-year-old Ahmed Abdulahi Hajji, were arrested after detectives intercepted a white Toyota Prado bearing registration number KAR 555M.

Preliminary checks reportedly revealed a discrepancy between the vehicle’s chassis number and registration details held by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), raising suspicions that the vehicle may have been tampered with or fraudulently registered.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered an empty pistol magazine and a pistol holster concealed inside the glove compartment.

Detectives also recovered rolls of bhang during the search.

The two suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue and are being processed for arraignment.

Authorities are expected to conduct further checks to establish the vehicle’s ownership and determine how it was acquired and registered.
