Residents and businesses in parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience an eight-hour electricity interruption on Saturday, October 10, as Kenya Power undertakes planned maintenance works.
The utility has scheduled the exercise to take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., affecting customers in Pan Paper Market, Nzoia Quarry and Lwanda, among other locations.
According to the maintenance notice, the affected areas include Pan Paper Market, Marula, St. Gabriel, KMTC Lugari, Saleh and Nabemo, as well as adjacent customers.
The planned outage is part of the company’s scheduled electricity network maintenance programme, which requires temporary power interruptions to facilitate work on the distribution system.
The interruption is expected to affect electricity-dependent activities across the designated areas, including business operations, household routines and services offered by institutions within the affected supply zones.
Customers have been encouraged to take precautionary measures ahead of the outage, including planning for essential activities that require electricity and making arrangements for any operations that may be disrupted during the eight-hour period.
Businesses that rely on electrical equipment may need to adjust their operating schedules, while households are advised to prepare for the temporary loss of power. Institutions and other service providers within the affected locations are also encouraged to plan accordingly.
Kenya Power provides advance notices of planned interruptions to give customers an opportunity to prepare for scheduled maintenance. The company has listed the affected locations and the expected duration of the exercise to help consumers identify whether their premises fall within the areas scheduled for the outage.
Customers requiring assistance or additional information can reach the utility through its official communication channels, including email, social media, the *977# service and the MyPower App.
Meanwhile, Kenya Power has issued a separate customer notice advising that its contact centre will be temporarily unavailable through telephone calls during scheduled system maintenance from Friday midnight until 5 a.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
Despite the temporary telephone disruption, the company says customers can continue accessing assistance through email, its social media platforms, the *977# service and the MyPower App.
The utility has apologised to customers for any inconvenience arising from the temporary unavailability of the telephone contact centre and thanked them for their patience and understanding.
Customers are encouraged to use these alternative channels for inquiries and support during the scheduled system maintenance period.
