Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has defended the government’s development agenda, saying Kenya is following a development path similar to that taken by developed nations.
Speaking in Othaya Constituency, Nyeri County, Kindiki said the government was committed to ensuring that development projects reach all regions of the country.
The Deputy President made the remarks after inspecting construction works on the Gathunguri-Kabebero Road and launching the Kihuro-Kirio-Kianjogu last-mile electrification project.
He said investments in road infrastructure and electricity connections were aimed at improving access to essential services and supporting economic activities in rural communities.
The Gathunguri-Kabebero Road is among the projects intended to improve transport connectivity in the area, while the last-mile electrification initiative seeks to extend electricity access to households that remain unconnected.
Leaders accompanying the Deputy President expressed support for the government’s development agenda in the county.
On social issues, Kindiki urged Kenyans to support the government’s efforts to combat illicit alcohol and narcotics, warning of their impact on young people.
He also called for issue-based politics, cautioning leaders and young people against political goonism and urging them to engage in peaceful political activities.
