The Environment and Land Court in Ol Kalou has issued conservatory orders suspending logging activities in Aberdare Forest until further directions from the court.
The orders apply to both licensed and unlicensed timber dealers, effectively halting all logging operations within the affected area as the court considers the matter.
Justice Joseph Mugo Kamau is expected to lead a court visit to Geta Forest on Friday, October 23, 2026, accompanied by all parties involved in the case.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the court and the parties to assess the situation on the ground as the legal proceedings continue.
The conservatory orders remain in force pending further directions from the court, with all affected logging operators required to comply with the ruling.
The development comes amid growing concerns over the protection and conservation of the Aberdare Forest ecosystem, which plays a critical role in water catchment, biodiversity conservation and the livelihoods of surrounding communities.
