The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), in collaboration with the National Treasury, has clarified the integration of the Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) with the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS), aimed at improving invoice verification and streamlining government payments.
In a public notice, KRA said the integration was designed to validate tax invoices generated through both eTIMS and the Tax Invoice Management System (TIMS), strengthening tax compliance and accountability in government transactions.
The system is intended to automate invoice checks, improve transparency and streamline the verification and payment processes for suppliers doing business with government entities.
KRA directed all suppliers working with government institutions to ensure their invoices meet the applicable validation requirements before proceeding through the IFMIS payment workflow.
The authority clarified that both valid eTIMS and TIMS invoices are accommodated under the integrated system.
According to KRA and the National Treasury, the automated solution is expected to make invoice validation more efficient, enhance tax compliance and support the timely processing of legitimate supplier payments.
The integration forms part of efforts to strengthen accountability in public financial transactions while ensuring suppliers meet the required tax invoicing standards.
KRA advised stakeholders seeking further clarification or technical assistance to contact the authority through its official customer service channels.
