India has handed over a second consignment of medical supplies to Kenya to strengthen the country’s preparedness and response to the Ebola outbreak.
The 11-tonne consignment was officially handed over by the Indian High Commissioner to Principal Secretary for Public Health Mary Muthoni on Monday, October 19, 2026, as India continues supporting Kenya’s efforts to contain the disease.
The donation includes personal protective equipment (PPE) kits, powered air-purifying respirators, biosafety cabinets and cold-chain refrigerators aimed at protecting frontline healthcare workers and strengthening laboratory safety.
The equipment is also expected to enhance Kenya’s public health capacity as authorities intensify measures to contain Ebola and prevent further transmission.
The latest donation follows an earlier consignment of medical assistance provided by India in July this year, underscoring the two countries’ continued cooperation in the health sector.
In a statement, India reaffirmed its solidarity with Kenya in the fight against Ebola, expressing its commitment to supporting the country’s response efforts.
The assistance further strengthens the longstanding bilateral partnership between Kenya and India, particularly in healthcare cooperation and emergency public health preparedness.
Kenya has been stepping up surveillance, contact tracing, laboratory testing and other response measures as health authorities work to contain the outbreak and protect healthcare personnel and the public.
