Eldoret Stadium filled with patriotic Kenyans before dawn on Tuesday as thousands turned up for this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations, highlighting the growing excitement ahead of the national event.
The early turnout saw citizens arrive at the venue hours before the official proceedings, eager to participate in the national celebrations honouring Kenya’s heroes and heroines who have contributed to the country’s freedom, development and progress.
The celebrations, held on October 20, 2026, bring together national leaders, government officials and members of the public to reflect on Kenya’s history, celebrate its achievements and recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation.
Eldoret’s hosting of the national event places Uasin Gishu County at the centre of this year’s Mashujaa Day festivities, with preparations focused on ensuring a successful celebration.
Mashujaa Day is observed annually on October 20 and provides an opportunity for Kenyans to honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters and other heroes while reflecting on the country’s aspirations for the future.
The early-morning crowds at Eldoret Stadium underscore the public interest surrounding the national celebrations, as the country marks the day with a renewed focus on patriotism, unity and national development.
