President William Ruto has welcomed Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County, for Kenya’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Abiy’s presence at the national event highlights the diplomatic ties between Kenya and Ethiopia, two neighbouring countries that continue to cooperate on regional peace, security, trade and economic development.
The celebrations bring together national leaders, government officials, invited dignitaries and members of the public to honour Kenyans who made significant contributions to the country’s struggle for independence and its subsequent development.
Mashujaa Day, observed annually on October 20, recognises the sacrifices of freedom fighters and other individuals whose efforts have helped shape Kenya’s history.
This year’s celebrations in Eldoret provide an opportunity for the country to reflect on the legacy of its heroes while strengthening national unity and recognising contributions to Kenya’s progress.
The visit by Prime Minister Abiy also underscores the importance of continued engagement between Kenya and Ethiopia in advancing shared interests within the East African region and beyond.
