President William Ruto has claimed that the value of Kenya’s stock market has doubled from KSh2 trillion to KSh4 trillion over the past four years, citing the growth as evidence of improving economic conditions.
In his Mashujaa Day speech, Ruto said the government had pursued measures to stabilise the economy, control inflation, strengthen the currency and improve access to credit for businesses.
He also said foreign direct investment had more than doubled, rising from 1.5 billion US dollars in 2022 to 3.2 billion dollars in 2025.
According to the President, the developments had strengthened investor confidence and improved the availability of financing for the private sector.
Ruto further stated that Kenya now ranked seventh among Africa’s economies, presenting the figures as part of his administration’s record since taking office.
The President said the government would continue implementing policies intended to stimulate investment, support businesses and expand employment opportunities.
