Agribusiness firm Kakuzi has warned that its annual earnings could fall further below last year’s performance, citing weak macadamia market conditions and lower crop volumes.
In an updated profit warning, the company said its financial outlook had deteriorated from its earlier forecast in August, when it projected that net earnings for the year ending December 2026 would decline by at least 25 per cent compared with 2025.
Kakuzi attributed the expected decline to a downturn in the international macadamia market and reduced production, which are expected to weigh on its overall financial performance.
The company’s challenges come amid weaker demand and increased global supply in the macadamia market, which have put pressure on prices.
Kakuzi also cited adverse weather conditions and disruptions to export shipping routes among the factors affecting its broader agricultural operations.
The firm has maintained its long-term strategy of growing its avocado and macadamia businesses, expanding into new markets and diversifying its product range.
The company’s latest outlook signals continued pressure on earnings as it navigates difficult market conditions and production challenges.
