Detectives have arrested two suspects and seized 898 rolls of bhang and three litres of illicit alcohol in separate anti-narcotics operations in Kiambu and Homa Bay counties.

In Juja, Kiambu County, detectives from Juja Police Station arrested a 24-year-old woman, Ann Wanjiku Njoki, at Juja Matatu Stage after allegedly finding her in possession of 800 rolls of bhang.

The narcotics were seized, while Njoki was taken into custody pending processing and arraignment in court.

In a separate operation in Orera, Rachuonyo East Sub-County, Homa Bay County, detectives from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB), working with officers from Homa Bay and Migori, raided the home of a 33-year-old man identified as Fredrick Dunga, alias Ofisa or Babu.

The raid followed complaints from members of the public over suspected drug trafficking near Orera Comprehensive School.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of 98 rolls of bhang concealed in a cup, alongside three litres of chang’aa.

Dunga was arrested and taken to Homa Bay Police Station for processing ahead of his expected arraignment.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said it remained committed to pursuing suspected drug traffickers and protecting communities, particularly children and young people, from the effects of narcotics and illicit alcohol.
