Deputy President Kithure Kindiki says the government will strengthen oversight of development partner-funded programmes and projects to improve accountability and ensure resources are used effectively.

Kindiki made the announcement on Thursday, October 22, following a meeting of the Cabinet Committee of the Whole in Karen, Nairobi, which reviewed policy recommendations aimed at streamlining donor-funded initiatives across government.

In a statement, the Deputy President said the committee deliberated on proposed legal, policy, institutional and administrative reforms intended to improve the absorption of funds and align projects with the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The committee resolved to continuously monitor the pace, relevance and effectiveness of development partner-funded programmes to ensure they deliver meaningful results.

Kindiki said the committee would also provide regular reports to the full Cabinet on the implementation and impact of the projects.
