Businessman and politician Jimmy Wanjigi has paid tribute to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, describing him as a loyal friend who consistently went out of his way to support him whenever he sought his assistance.
Wanjigi said his relationship with Raila went beyond politics, recalling years of friendship marked by generosity, loyalty and a willingness to help whenever he made a request.
“Raila was many things to many people, but to me, he was a true friend,” Wanjigi said.
He revealed that Raila rarely turned down his requests, noting that the former Prime Minister often made personal efforts to ensure his needs were addressed.
“He never said no to me. Whenever I asked him for anything, he went out of his way to make it happen,” Wanjigi recalled.
The businessman emphasized that the bond they shared had endured over the years, highlighting a personal side of Raila that extended beyond his public image as a veteran opposition leader and influential figure in Kenya’s political landscape.
Wanjigi’s tribute adds to the reflections of political allies, friends and associates who have continued to remember Raila for his influence on the country’s politics and the personal relationships he built throughout his career.
For Wanjigi, Raila’s legacy is not defined solely by his political achievements but also by the friendship, generosity and personal support he experienced during their time together.
