Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has revealed that she attempted to help one of her staunch political campaigners join the National Police Service using a forged Form Four certificate.
Nyamu disclosed that the supporter proceeded to Kiganjo Police Training College for training before investigations exposed the alleged forgery, leading to her arrest alongside 17 other suspects.
Speaking about the incident, the senator admitted to participating in the falsification of the academic document, using the Swahili phrase “Tukakarabati” to describe how they forged the certificate.
“I recently tried to help a very staunch campaigner of mine join the police force. Tukakarabati (we forged) a Form Four certificate,” Nyamu said.
“She went to Kiganjo for training, but after investigations, she was arrested for forgery alongside 17 others,” she added.
The disclosure raises questions about the integrity of recruitment into the National Police Service and the verification of academic qualifications presented by applicants.
