A multi-agency security team has recovered 10 head of cattle stolen from Buriene Hills following an operation in Chemichemi, Isiolo County.
According to a security update, the cattle had allegedly been stolen by six suspected bandits, prompting officers to pursue leads that took them to Chemichemi, where large herds of livestock were grazing near the Waso River.
Upon arrival, the security team held consultations with community elders, herders and their leaders, who pledged to cooperate with authorities to facilitate the recovery of the animals.
A follow-up meeting held on Sunday, October 25, resulted in the surrender of all 10 cattle to the security team.
Security agencies said patrols and engagement with local leaders would be intensified to deter further livestock theft, pursue those responsible and prevent similar incidents.
The recovery highlights the role of community cooperation in addressing livestock theft, protecting livelihoods and promoting peaceful coexistence among neighbouring communities.
