Thomas Tuchel has warned Premier League clubs that England players will not be rested simply because of concerns over the demands of the international schedule.
The England boss said he would select his team based on the need to win, despite the squad facing four Nations League matches during the current international window.
England lost their opening fixture against Spain on Saturday and will next face the Czech Republic in Prague on Tuesday.
They then play Croatia on Saturday before meeting the Czech Republic again at home on October 6.
The packed programme has prompted discussion over whether some players should be given a break, particularly those who had little time off after the World Cup.
But Tuchel said he would not respond to approaches from Premier League managers seeking to influence the playing time of their players.
“I don’t take calls from Premier League managers,” he said, adding that he had never contacted national team coaches when he was managing at club level.
Tuchel said it would be impossible for him to individually manage the workload of every player while also trying to achieve positive results.
Instead, he wants his key players to embrace the responsibility of performing across the demanding run of fixtures.
“An ideal scenario would be to go again and go again and go again, with six or seven players minimum that start again – to put the responsibility on them and for them to feel the trust,” he said.
Tuchel also ruled out a cautious approach against the Czech Republic, saying England would look to impose their style of play.
“There is no room for managing the players or an economic style,” he said. “We need to be proactive.”
The Czech Republic match will be played at the Fortuna Arena in Prague.
