Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to Attorney General Dorcas Oduor at Sheria House in Nairobi, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation between the National Police Service (NPS) and the Office of the Attorney General.
The meeting brought together officials from the two institutions to discuss key areas of collaboration, including legal reforms in the security sector, upholding the rule of law and streamlining criminal justice processes to improve public service delivery.
According to the National Police Service, the engagement sought to strengthen institutional cooperation and ensure both offices effectively discharge their constitutional mandates.
“Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to working together progressively to safeguard constitutional mandates,” the NPS said in a statement.
The discussions also underscored the importance of closer coordination between law enforcement agencies and the government’s principal legal office in addressing legal and administrative issues affecting the criminal justice system.
The collaboration is expected to support efforts to improve the efficiency of criminal justice processes while reinforcing adherence to the rule of law.
Kanja was accompanied by a delegation comprising NPS Secretary for Administration and Accounting Officer Bernice Lemedeket, NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, Deputy Director of Legal Affairs Charles Otiende, and his Personal Assistant James Murithi.
The visit comes as the two institutions reaffirm their commitment to working together on legal and security sector matters, with the broader objective of ensuring effective service delivery to Kenyans.
