Kenya is seeking to strengthen trade and economic cooperation with Singapore and St Vincent and the Grenadines following bilateral meetings held on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki held discussions with Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, focusing on trade, climate action and reforms to the global financial architecture.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Kindiki said Kenya was keen to draw lessons from Singapore’s advanced trade, transport and logistics systems, as well as its public housing programme.

The two leaders also discussed measures to address the trade imbalance between the countries, with Singapore’s exports to Kenya valued at approximately 80 million US dollars compared to Kenya’s exports of 10 million dollars.

Kindiki said they had agreed on steps to correct the imbalance and strengthen commercial ties.

In a separate meeting, the Deputy President held talks with St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Godwin Friday, where the two countries agreed to expand cooperation in renewable energy, healthcare, hospitality and trade.

Under the proposed cooperation, Kenya will support renewable energy development and the provision of personnel in the health and hospitality sectors.

The discussions also covered opportunities for Kenya to export tea, coffee, chilled avocado and cut flowers to the Caribbean nation.

Kindiki thanked Friday for his country’s support towards the election of Professor Phoebe Okowa as a judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

He also presented Kenya’s bid for Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u, who is seeking election as a judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC), and requested St Vincent and the Grenadines’ support ahead of the vote scheduled for next month in The Hague.

The engagements form part of Kenya’s diplomatic and economic outreach at the Commonwealth meeting, with discussions centred on expanding export markets, sharing expertise and strengthening international cooperation.
