Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has publicly thrown his support behind the club following the independent commission’s findings on Manchester City’s long-running financial rules case.
Guardiola, who left City at the end of the 2025/26 season after almost a decade in charge, addressed supporters on social media on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, following the publication of the verdict.
The former City boss made it clear that his relationship with the club remains strong, backing the ownership, chairman, players, staff, current manager Enzo Maresca and supporters.
“I want every single Manchester City fan to know I am here; more than ever. I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters.”
Guardiola also delivered a message of unity to the City fanbase as the club prepares for the next stage of the case.
“Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all.”
His message came after Manchester City were found guilty of serious breaches of Premier League financial rules relating to a nine-season period.
The case concerns alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018, although Guardiola was only appointed in 2016 and has not been accused of wrongdoing.
During his tenure, Guardiola guided City to six Premier League titles and their first Champions League trophy, among numerous other honours.
Manchester City have consistently denied the allegations and have indicated that they intend to challenge the findings through the appeal process.
The club has maintained that its position remains unchanged and that the legal process is still ongoing.
Guardiola’s latest statement therefore represents a public show of solidarity with his former club at a difficult moment, with the club’s supporters now awaiting the next stage of the legal process and any eventual sanctions.
