Jubilee Party leader Fred Matiang’i is set to begin a five-day tour of the Coast region as the party steps up efforts to strengthen its presence and mobilise support ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Matiang’i is expected to tour five counties during the visit, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, Taita Taveta and Kwale.

During the tour, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary is expected to meet with political leaders and residents as he seeks to engage communities across the region.

The visit will also see Matiang’i open Jubilee Party offices in some of the counties as the party works to strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 polls.

The tour comes just two days after President William Ruto concluded an eight-day tour of the Coast region, where he visited several parts of the region and engaged residents and local leaders.

The timing of Matiang’i’s visit places both tours within the same political period, with parties and political leaders increasingly turning their attention to the 2027 General Election.

However, Jubilee Party has said Matiang’i’s Coast tour was planned in advance and should not be viewed as a response to President Ruto’s recent visit.

According to the party, the primary objective of the tour is to strengthen Jubilee’s influence in the Coast region and across the country as it prepares for the next General Election.

Matiang’i’s visit is expected to provide an opportunity for the party to assess its grassroots networks in the region while engaging local leaders and residents on its political agenda.

The five-day tour comes as political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections, with the Coast region remaining an important area for parties seeking to expand their national support base.

Matiang’i is expected to conclude the tour after visiting the five counties and holding engagements with local stakeholders.
