The High Court has issued conservatory orders temporarily suspending the implementation of Gazette Notice No. 10421, which provides for the election of members of the National Youth Council.

Justice F.N. Kyambia granted prayers two and three of the application, halting the implementation of the Gazette Notice insofar as it relates to the National Youth Council elections.

The court order states that pending the inter partes hearing of the application, the implementation of Gazette Notice No. 10421 issued by the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports be stayed.

The order further suspends the Gazette Notice pending the hearing and determination of the petition filed before the court.

The decision effectively puts the National Youth Council election process on hold until the court gives further directions.

The matter has been listed for directions on the hearing of the main petition.

The suspension will remain in place pending further proceedings and the court’s determination of the petition.
