Junior Stars captain Ian Nzisa is confident Kenya can make a strong impression when they travel to Rwanda for the CECAFA Under-17 Championship qualifiers.
Nzisa has urged Kenyans to rally behind the team through prayers and support, insisting that the players are determined to give their all in pursuit of success.
“Kenya can make a strong showing in Rwanda. We are asking Kenyans to pray for us and support us because we will give our best for the country,” Nzisa said.
The captain, who was not part of last season’s Junior Stars squad, believes the current crop has the quality and determination needed to mount a serious challenge for a place in the final.
Nzisa says the team has enjoyed a productive two weeks in camp, with intensive training sessions helping the players build both their physical fitness and mental readiness ahead of the qualifiers.
“We have been in camp for the last two weeks and the preparations have been intense. The mood in the team is positive and we are ready physically and mentally,” he added.
With the qualifiers approaching, Nzisa believes the team’s preparations have put them in a good position to compete against the region’s best youth sides.
The Junior Stars will now look to translate their hard work in camp into strong performances in Rwanda as they chase a place in the final and a successful campaign for Kenya.
