Several parts of the country are set to experience rainfall this week as the October–December 2026 Short Rains season gets underway.
The Kenya Meteorological Department expects light to moderate rainfall across dozens of counties, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kisumu, Kakamega, Machakos, Meru, Nyeri, Garissa, Kajiado and Turkana, among others.
Isolated thunderstorms are forecast in parts of Mandera, Wajir, Marsabit, Tana River and Kilifi. The storms could trigger flash floods, particularly in areas vulnerable to flooding.
Residents are urged to remain alert, monitor weather updates and take precautions as the short rains continue. :::
