Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said the national government will continue investing in the expansion of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campuses as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s healthcare workforce.

Kindiki said the government will open more KMTC campuses across the country while expanding facilities and training capacity in existing institutions.

«“The national government will continue to invest in opening more KMTC campuses in Kenya and expanding the facilities and capacities of the existing ones,” Kindiki said.»

The Deputy President said the investment is informed by the crucial role KMTC plays in training medical professionals who are at the forefront of delivering healthcare services and advancing the government’s Universal Health Coverage agenda.

Kindiki spoke at KMTC Kiambaa Campus in Karuri, Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County, after inspecting ongoing construction works for a new building block at the institution.

He was accompanied by Kiambaa MP John Njuguna Kawanjiki and Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a.

The Deputy President also challenged young people to shun drugs and substance abuse, urging them to remain focused on their future and the responsibilities that await them.

He reminded the youth that they will soon assume leadership responsibilities in the country and should therefore protect their potential by making responsible choices.

«“This country is looking up to you to take over the affairs of running the country in the very near future,” Kindiki told the students.»

He said continued investment in medical training institutions will be essential in ensuring Kenya has enough skilled healthcare professionals to meet the growing needs of its population.
