President William Ruto has announced a 50 per cent reduction in seed prices, saying farmers will now purchase seeds previously retailing at Sh1,000 for Sh500.

Speaking in Meteitei, Tinderet Constituency, Nandi County, the President highlighted his administration’s agricultural interventions and defended its record in implementing campaign promises.

“Bei ya mbegu tumepunguza by 50%. Ile ya Sh1,000 sasa mtanunua Sh500,” Ruto said, assuring farmers of reduced costs for agricultural inputs.

The Head of State also dismissed criticism of his administration’s focus on infrastructure projects, including stadiums and markets, describing the critics’ arguments as misguided.

“Kuna wale wanasema stadium ni shiny things, soko ni shiny things… akili kidogo. Hao watashangaa sana,” he said.

Ruto maintained that his administration was implementing its manifesto rather than merely making promises, citing progress in universal healthcare and education.

“We did not write a newspaper, we wrote a manifesto. We are implementing our manifesto,” he said.

The President added that his administration had made progress on its commitments in education and that the universal healthcare agenda was still on course.

He challenged Kenyans to assess his government based on its delivery of the promises made to voters.

“I am ready to face the people of Kenya to judge our administration on the delivery of the commitments we made,” Ruto said.
