Businesswoman Caroline Lihavi Imbayi has been charged with conspiracy to defraud KSh17 million in a case involving an alleged false promise to supply herbicides.
Imbayi appeared in court to face a charge of conspiracy to defraud, contrary to Section 317 of the Penal Code.
According to the particulars of the charge, the alleged offence occurred on diverse dates between March 18 and June 20, 2024, in Buruburu, Embakasi, Nairobi County.
The prosecution alleges that Imbayi, jointly with other individuals who have not been brought before the court, conspired to defraud Winfred Kawira Micheni of KSh17 million by falsely claiming that she was in a position to supply her with herbicides.
The court heard that the representation was allegedly made despite the accused knowing it to be false.
Imbayi denied the charge and was released on a cash bail of KSh300,000 as the case proceeds through the judicial process.
The matter is scheduled for mention on November 3, 2026, when it will be considered for consolidation with related cases.
The allegations remain unproven, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of law.
