Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has sent a political message to President William Ruto, predicting that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna could take over the presidency after the 2027 General Election.

In his remarks, Khalwale told Ruto to prepare for a possible change of government, invoking the Talanta Stadium as he projected a political transition next year.

“Ruto, next year at Talanta, be ready. Do not feel bitter; you will hand over power to Sifuna,” Khalwale said.

The statement adds to the growing political debate surrounding the 2027 presidential contest, with leaders increasingly making predictions about the possible outcome of the election.

Sifuna, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) secretary-general and Nairobi senator, has remained a prominent figure in opposition politics, frequently weighing in on national leadership and governance issues.

Khalwale’s remarks appear to signal his confidence in a possible political shift, although the outcome of the 2027 General Election will ultimately be determined by voters.

President Ruto is expected to face a competitive re-election battle as political alignments and campaigns gather momentum ahead of the polls.

The reference to Talanta Stadium also raises questions about the political significance Khalwale attaches to the venue in his prediction of a possible power transition.

As the country moves closer to the 2027 elections, such statements are likely to intensify political exchanges among leaders and supporters of competing camps.
