Police officers in Kisii County have destroyed 6,510 litres of illicitly brewed kangara following a targeted operation in Mwata Village, Riana Ward.

The crackdown, conducted on Saturday, October 17, 2026, by officers from Kerina Police Station, targeted an illegal brewing den suspected of operating in the area.

According to the police, officers discovered a notorious brewing site during the raid, where they seized and destroyed the large quantity of kangara.

The officers also dismantled and destroyed brewing equipment found at the scene, dealing a blow to the illegal alcohol production network.

The operation forms part of efforts to combat illicit alcohol brewing and curb the distribution of unregulated alcoholic drinks in the region.

Authorities have continued to target illegal brewing dens as part of broader efforts to address the production and sale of illicit alcohol, which poses risks to public health and safety.
