Police have arrested a suspect and recovered 12 electricity meters suspected to have been stolen during an intelligence-led operation in Kawangware, Nairobi.

The suspect, identified as Clinton Amuma, was arrested at his residence in Kawangware Stage 56 following intelligence linking him to the alleged theft of electricity meters.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a search of the house led to the recovery of 12 meters suspected to have been stolen.

The recovered items have been secured as exhibits, while Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) personnel have joined detectives to assist with the ongoing investigations.

The suspect remains in police custody as officers process him ahead of his expected arraignment in court.

The DCI said it was working with KPLC to investigate electricity meter theft and the illegal trade in the company’s equipment.

The allegations against the suspect have not been determined by a court.
