Gor Mahia assistant coach Bismark Kobi has credited psychological talks with helping the team make a promising start to the 2026/27 FKF Premier League season following their 1-0 victory over APS Bomet at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Saturday.
K’Ogalo secured maximum points through Alpha Onyango’s goal, assisted by Ben Stanley, to maintain their position at the top of the league standings after two matches.
Speaking after the victory, Kobi expressed satisfaction with the team’s early-season progress, particularly after facing doubts during the pre-season period.
“I think it is a good start, especially now that people were doubting us in the pre-season,” Kobi said.
The assistant coach noted that the players had continued to work hard in training and prepare adequately for their weekly league assignments, emphasising the importance of recognising their efforts.
“Sometimes the players also know what they work for. They train hard and prepare very well for weekly matches,” he added.
Kobi further revealed that the technical bench had recommended external psychological talks to help strengthen the players mentally, with the proposal presented to the club’s management.
“We thought that the boys needed something like external psychological talks and suggested it to the management,” he explained.
The Gor Mahia tactician believes the intervention is beginning to produce positive results, with the players showing encouraging signs as the defending champions pursue another successful league campaign.
“I think it is paying off,” Kobi concluded.
The victory over APS Bomet provides another confidence boost for Gor Mahia as they seek to defend their league crown and continue building momentum in the early stages of the season.
