Makueni County has kicked off this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at Nziu Primary School grounds, bringing together county leaders and government officials to mark the national holiday.
Makueni County Commissioner Khalif Abdullahi is presiding over the event, which has drawn Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, his Deputy Lucy Mulili, and County Assembly Speaker Douglas Mbilu.
Also in attendance are County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and other county government officials.
The celebrations form part of the nationwide events held annually on October 20 to honour Kenya’s heroes and heroines for their contributions to the country’s independence, development and progress.
Mashujaa Day provides an opportunity for Kenyans to reflect on the sacrifices made by national heroes while recognising individuals whose efforts continue to shape the country’s future.
The event at Nziu Primary School is among the celebrations taking place across the country as Kenyans commemorate the national holiday.
