United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar has assured the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) that the ruling party and the broad-based government will comply with all the commission’s requirements.
Omar made the remarks when he appeared before the IEBC following a controversial statement attributed to him regarding the counting of votes for non-existent people to secure President William Ruto’s second term in office.
During his appearance, the UDA Secretary General pledged to cooperate with the electoral agency and ensure party members comply with its directives.
“I want to assure the IEBC that UDA and the broad-based government will comply with all the requirements of the commission,” Omar said.
He further stated that he would personally ensure UDA members attend summons issued by the commission if they were unwilling to appear.
“Should you need to summon any UDA party members who are unwilling to attend, I will personally bring them here,” he added.
Omar’s appearance before the electoral commission comes amid scrutiny over his reported remarks on vote counting and the integrity of the electoral process ahead of the 2027 General Election.
