The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has held talks with the Netherlands on strategic collaboration to strengthen electoral preparedness, democratic governance and the rule of law ahead of the 2027 General Election.
LSK President Charles Kanjama, SC, accompanied by Council Member Vivienne Eyase, held a courtesy meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to discuss areas of cooperation, including access to justice and strengthening democratic institutions.
Electoral preparedness featured prominently during the meeting, with both sides highlighting the importance of peaceful, credible and transparent elections in safeguarding constitutional democracy, promoting political stability and boosting investor confidence.
During the engagement, LSK presented its proposed Electoral Preparedness Toolkit, an initiative designed to strengthen the legal profession’s capacity to safeguard electoral integrity, support the resolution of electoral disputes and enhance public confidence in democratic institutions.
The Society welcomed the Netherlands’ commitment to democratic governance and its continued support for strengthening Kenya’s justice sector.
LSK said it would deepen engagement with the Dutch Embassy to advance its electoral preparedness initiatives ahead of the 2027 polls, while exploring further cooperation in access to justice, anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism and proliferation (AML/CFT/CPF) compliance, as well as institutional capacity building.
