Detectives have arrested a sitting Kitui County MCA over alleged mobile phone thefts reported in Nairobi’s Central Business District in August and September 2026.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, who represents Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, was arrested on Mfangano Street by detectives from Kamukunji Police Station following intelligence-led investigations.
According to the DCI, Musyoka was being investigated in connection with three separate reported phone theft incidents.
The agency said CCTV footage played a key role in the investigations, helping detectives identify the suspect in connection with the reported incidents.
The arrest also brought to light an outstanding warrant in a separate case, Criminal Case No. 112/303/2024.
The DCI said Musyoka was wanted after failing to attend court following his release on bond by the Makadara Law Courts, where he had been charged with stealing.
He was in police custody undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment, according to the agency.
The DCI reiterated that suspects would be pursued and presented before the courts regardless of their position or status in society.
