Former Universal Health Coverage (UHC) staff have threatened to resume weekly demonstrations on Tuesdays to demand payment of six years’ gratuity arrears.
In a statement shared publicly, the former workers said they would stage protests targeting the Ministry of Health, the Public Service Commission and Parliament until their demands are addressed.
The workers said they were invoking Article 47 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to fair administrative action, in their push for the payment.
They further argued that their appointment and placement letters, which they said bear 2026 dates, support their claim to the gratuity payments.
The former staff also cited a promise by the President regarding the payment, saying they were yet to receive the arrears.
They did not indicate in the statement when the demonstrations would begin or provide further details on the amount owed to the affected workers.
The dispute adds to concerns surrounding outstanding employment-related payments among former health programme workers.
