The death toll from the head-on collision between a bus and a lorry at Kanga area, past Mtito Andei along the Mombasa Road, has risen to 22 after two more people succumbed to their injuries.
Makueni County Commissioner Abdulahi Khalif had earlier confirmed that 20 people died in the crash, which also left several others injured.
The injured victims were taken to Mtito Andei Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
The latest fatalities bring the number of confirmed deaths to 22 as authorities continue to account for those affected by the accident.
