Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced a three-day water supply interruption affecting several parts of Nairobi following an emergency shutdown of the NCT–Kigoro–Gigiri–Kabete pipeline for repair works.

In a public notice issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, the company said the shutdown, being undertaken by the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA), is expected to begin at 11:59 p.m. on Monday and end at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, October 29.

The interruption is expected to affect residents and businesses across 14 areas in Nairobi, including Riverside, Kileleshwa, Kilimani, Ngong Road, Kibera, Lang’ata, Nairobi West, Karen, Parklands, Westlands, Upper Hill and Kabete.

Other affected areas include parts of Lavington, Jamuhuri, Southlands, Mbagathi, Ngumo, Hima Gardens, Madaraka, Railways Quarters, U.S. Embassy environs, International School environs, Lower Kabete and surrounding neighbourhoods.

The notice further lists parts of the Ngong Road corridor, including Woodley, Adams Arcade, City Mortuary environs, KEMRI flats and Mbagathi Way, among the affected locations.

Residents in Lang’ata, including areas around Uhuru Gardens, Civil Servants, Southlands, Rubia, Masai, Onyoka, Jambo, Camp David, Akiba and Ngei, are also expected to experience the interruption.

In Nairobi West, the affected locations include Madaraka, Hima Gardens, Siwaka, Monali, NHC, Moi Mahiu Road, Quick Estate and Hamayun Estate, among other surrounding neighbourhoods.

The company has appealed to customers in the affected areas to conserve water during the shutdown as repair works continue.

“We appeal to our customers for indulgence and urge them to use their available water sparingly as we work towards restoring the supply,” the notice stated.

The company, through its Managing Director, Martin Nang’ole, regretted the inconvenience caused by the planned interruption and assured customers that efforts would be made to restore normal supply.

Residents are advised to store sufficient water in advance and use available supplies sparingly throughout the shutdown period.
