Rescuers have retrieved the body of a woman from a collapsed multi-storey building along 9th Street in Eastleigh, Nairobi, as the search operation entered its eighth day.

Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan confirmed the recovery, expressing sadness over the death and sending condolences to the woman’s family and loved ones.

In a statement, the MP urged disaster management teams to intensify rescue efforts and called on relevant agencies to provide the resources needed to reach those who may still be trapped beneath the rubble.

Hassan said families of the missing were still waiting anxiously for news of their loved ones, urging rescuers not to lose hope as the operation continued.

The recovery marks the first reported casualty retrieved from the site since the building collapsed.
