Former Chief Justice and presidential aspirant David Maraga has identified corruption and wastage of public resources as the biggest challenges facing Kenya’s economy, promising a tough stance against graft if elected President.

In a statement directed at Kenyans, Maraga accused individuals entrusted with public resources of stealing billions of taxpayers’ money, arguing that corruption continues to undermine the country’s economic progress.

He maintained that his administration would not tolerate corruption, insisting that his commitment to fighting the vice should be taken seriously.

“Fellow Kenyans, our economic problem is corruption and wastage. Billions of hard-earned taxpayers’ money stolen in broad daylight,” Maraga stated.

The former Chief Justice further sought to reassure Kenyans of his determination to address corruption, saying his promise of accountability would translate into action if he assumes the country’s highest office.

“Fellow Kenyans, you know me well. When I say my government will have zero tolerance to corruption, I mean it,” he added.
