The National Police Service has intensified road safety awareness campaigns in Mombasa, Kilifi and Wajir counties as authorities seek to reduce road accidents and promote responsible behaviour among road users.

The sensitisation exercises, conducted on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, targeted motorists, public service vehicle operators, long-distance drivers, motorcycle riders and pedestrians.

In Mombasa’s Urban Sub-County, traffic officers from the Central Traffic Base engaged matatu drivers and conductors at the Mwembe Tayari terminus, focusing on professional conduct and compliance with road safety regulations.

In Jomvu Sub-County, the Mikindani Traffic Base Commander led a training session at the Yalfa Transport Company yard, targeting long-distance drivers and company staff.

The session covered 11 key areas of highway safety, with participants urged to observe traffic rules and adopt responsible driving practices.

Meanwhile, officers from the Chasimba Traffic Base conducted a sensitisation exercise at Mitangoni Stage in Chonyi Sub-County, with particular emphasis on motorcycle safety.

In Wajir County, officers from the Wajir Traffic Base held a public awareness exercise at Township Stage, engaging boda boda operators and pedestrians on road safety and community security.

The National Police Service said the campaigns were aimed at encouraging compliance, personal responsibility and mutual respect among different categories of road users.

Police further announced plans to intensify road safety education and enforcement operations across the country, urging motorists, passengers and pedestrians to cooperate with traffic officers and observe road regulations.
