Form Four students at Nyalenda Girls Secondary School in Awasi, Nyando Sub-County, reportedly attempted to cause unrest on Tuesday night after teachers confiscated two mobile phones from some of them.

According to a police report, the students became agitated after the deputy principal took away the devices, prompting a group of learners to gather and disrupt activities at the school.

At around 7pm, the students allegedly switched off the school lights before breaking into the principal’s office, where they managed to retrieve the phones.

Officers from Boya Police Station responded to the incident and restored calm, directing the students to return to their dormitories.

Police recovered only one of the two mobile phones. Several window panes were also smashed during the disturbance.

No student had been arrested by the time the incident was reported.
