The High Court has ordered the Inspector General of Police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to produce missing Nairobi lawyer Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi before court at 2:30pm on Wednesday, whether alive or dead.

Justice Alexander Muteti, sitting as the duty judge in the Criminal Division, issued the order after certifying an application concerning Abdi’s disappearance as urgent.

The court directed the respondents to produce Abdi before it at the scheduled hearing.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI Director Mohamed Amin were also summoned to appear in person or through their duly appointed advocates.

They have been directed to present any warrants of arrest authorising Abdi’s arrest and detention and explain why he should not be immediately released from custody.

The respondents include the Inspector General of Police, the DCI and other security agencies. The application and court orders are to be served on all respondents for immediate compliance.

The matter is scheduled for hearing in open court at 2:30pm.

Abdi, an Advocate of the High Court practising at Abshir & Njagi Advocates in Kilimani, was reportedly abducted on October 31, 2026, along Muchai Road.

His vehicle, registration number KDL 356C, was later found abandoned.
