Multi-agency security teams have recovered more than 3,000 sheep and goats stolen in separate banditry incidents across Marsabit, Samburu and Isiolo counties.
In the latest operation conducted on November 3, 2026, security officers in Loiyangalani Sub-County, Marsabit County, recovered 3,000 sheep and goats following an attack on herders migrating their livestock from Mouwokiteng towards Lardapach.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), suspected armed bandits ambushed the herders, seized the livestock and began driving the animals towards Arapal.
A multi-agency response team was mobilised and intercepted the attackers, recovering all the stolen animals.
The recovery followed another operation on November 2 under Operation Maliza Uhalifu, after police received intelligence that bandits had raided Archers in Samburu East and stolen livestock they were driving towards Manyatta Zebra in Isiolo County.
Officers based in the Shaba area joined a multi-agency team in pursuing the suspects to the Oltungai Plateau, where an exchange of gunfire reportedly forced the bandits to flee.
The team recovered 75 sheep and goats, which were later identified and returned to their rightful owners.
The National Police Service commended security agencies and members of the local community for their cooperation in the operations.
