Police officers have seized and destroyed 2,000 litres of kangara during a crackdown on illicit alcohol production in Kibera, Nairobi County.

The operation was conducted on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the Brazil area of Kibera by officers from Langata Sub-County in collaboration with National Government Administration Officers (NGAO).

According to the National Police Service, the multi-agency team also seized six copper wires and other equipment allegedly used in the production of chang’aa.

The crackdown forms part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb the production, distribution and consumption of illicit brews.

The National Police Service said similar operations would continue across the country as it steps up efforts to combat illicit alcohol and drug-related activities.
