The Judiciary has concluded the first cohort of its Flagship Training Programme for the 2026/27 financial year, with 95 staff members completing training focused on improving court registry operations and service delivery.

Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Winfridah B. Mokaya officially closed the programme, which is part of a wider initiative targeting 700 judicial staff across eight regions in the country during the current financial year.

The hybrid training was held under the theme, “The Modern Court Registry as the Centre of Excellence in Service Delivery,” bringing together Judiciary staff from different parts of the country.

Participants were taken through key areas including the STAJ agenda, court automation, ethics and integrity, performance management, court procedures, emotional intelligence and customer service.

Mokaya said the programme was designed to shift the Judiciary’s training approach towards practical service delivery improvements while ensuring staff across different regions have equitable access to professional development opportunities.

She noted that monitoring and evaluation mechanisms had been established to assess how participants apply the knowledge acquired at their respective stations and measure improvements in their competencies and conduct.

The Judiciary will assess the programme’s impact through changes in registry processes, records management, use of digital systems, customer service and compliance with institutional policies and procedures.

Mokaya was accompanied by Deputy Chief Registrar Paul Ndemo and Kenya Judicial Staff Association President Micah Miruka, who led participants in committing to apply the lessons from the training to improve the delivery of services.

The programme forms part of the Judiciary’s efforts to strengthen institutional capacity and improve the efficiency, responsiveness and quality of services offered to court users.
