Safaricom has reported a 35.9 per cent increase in net income to KSh58.2 billion for the six months to September 2026, supported by strong growth in its mobile money business.
The telecommunications company said M-Pesa generated KSh100.1 billion in revenue during the period, representing a 13.6 per cent increase from KSh88.1 billion recorded in the corresponding period last year.
The performance highlights the growing contribution of mobile financial services to Safaricom’s business as the platform expands beyond money transfers into merchant payments, credit, savings and investment services.
Safaricom’s upgraded M-Pesa infrastructure can now support up to 6,000 transactions per second, strengthening its capacity to handle the growing volume of digital payments.
The results underline the importance of M-Pesa to the company’s financial performance as mobile money continues to play a central role in Kenya’s digital economy.
