Artificial intelligence detection company Pangram Labs has introduced new tools designed to identify AI-generated images and videos, expanding its work beyond the detection of AI-written text.
The company launched Pangram Image 1.0 and Image Flash 1.0 on November 4, with details reported on November 5.
Pangram Image 1.0 is designed to analyse still images, while Image Flash 1.0 focuses on video content.
The image detection tool can also highlight areas that may have been altered or generated using artificial intelligence, potentially helping users identify manipulated sections within otherwise genuine photographs.
The company has reported high accuracy rates for the tools based on its own testing. However, those figures have not been independently verified and should not be treated as a guarantee that every AI-generated image or video can be detected.
The launch comes as AI-generated visual content becomes increasingly accessible, raising concerns about misinformation, manipulated media and the difficulty of verifying material shared online.
The new tools reflect a growing effort by technology companies to develop systems that can help users assess the authenticity of digital content.
