Kenya’s Harambee Stars will return to action on Monday evening when they face Rwanda in an international friendly at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
The match is scheduled for 7pm East African Time, providing head coach Benni McCarthy with another opportunity to assess his squad and fine-tune his plans ahead of future competitive assignments.
The encounter comes at an important moment for Kenya, who are seeking a positive response after a difficult start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
Harambee Stars opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Eritrea before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Guinea in Conakry. The friendly therefore gives McCarthy a chance to work on the areas that have troubled his side while also giving several players an opportunity to stake their claim for regular places.
Rwanda, meanwhile, head into the clash in confident mood. The Amavubi have won their opening two AFCON qualifying matches, beating Liberia 3-1 before securing an impressive 2-1 comeback victory over Cape Verde away from home.
McCarthy has warned his players to expect a difficult encounter, with Rwanda’s recent form making them a serious test for the Kenyan side.
The match also renews a familiar regional rivalry, with Kenya looking to build momentum and confidence while Rwanda will be keen to maintain their impressive run.
