Police in Nairobi have arrested two suspects and recovered 17 mobile phones believed to have been stolen during a crackdown on the trade of stolen electronics in Kiamaiko.
The operation was conducted by officers from Huruma Police Station in Starehe Sub-County on Monday, October 5, 2026, targeting suspected receivers of stolen property in the area.
Among the recovered devices were six Samsung A15 phones, seven Tecno phones, one Redmi 15C, one Realme Note, one Oppo 3x and one Infinix phone.
The two suspects were taken to Huruma Police Station and placed in custody as detectives process the case ahead of their arraignment in court.
Police are expected to investigate the origin of the phones and establish whether they are linked to reported cases of phone theft and snatching within Nairobi.
The National Police Service said similar operations targeting phone theft and the illegal trade in stolen electronics will continue as part of efforts to enhance security and protect members of the public.
Members of the public who have lost phones through theft or snatching are encouraged to report the cases to police and provide relevant identification details to assist in tracing recovered devices.
